On 16 April 2023, Emily completed her first Marathon - in Manchester.

"A long held ambition of mine has been to be push myself out of my comfort zone and complete a Marathon. I would love to say I have a goal time, but the aim is to make it round!

In the process of training for this event, I’ve decided to try and raise some money for a charity that has played a part (Ronny, Effie and me) in our lives. On 16 April 2023, my daughter Effie will be 18 months old and if it wasn’t for the swift actions of the fantastic midwives, nurses and doctors at the JR hospital Oxfordshire when she was only an hour old our worlds could be completely different!

During this time we spent two days on the Newborn Care unit at the John Radcliffe hospital, we were fortunate that our stay was short but even in this time we saw the fantastic work the staff did to support premature and sick babies. SSNAP Oxfordshire (Supporting Sick Newborns and their Parents) work to provide specialist support for families, medical equipment and research. I’d like to try and raise as much as I can to give back a little something to thank them for the part they played during our short stay. As well as help them to continue their work supporting other families who find themselves under the care of the staff in the special care baby unit.

Thank you!"
