Please note, this press release was prepared with David Wilson Homes.

David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to Oxford based charity, SSNAP (Support for Sick Newborns and Their Parents), to help fund its ‘Little Ssnaplings’ group.
SSNAP was founded in 1982 to support parents and families who have a sick newborn and have to spend time in the John Radcliffe Hospital Neonatal Care Unit in Oxford. While supporting families and parents is a main focus for the charity, funding for specialist support, medical equipment and life-changing research are also part of the organisation’s work.

The donation from David Wilson Homes will specifically help to fund the Little Ssnaplings, where families and parents of those who have been in the newborn care unit at the hospital can meet others who have been through the same hardship and have a place to relax and unwind.

The donation came as part of Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Emily Byrne, Fundraising Manager for SSNAP, said: “David Wilson Homes’ support will really help SSNAP and the Little Ssnaplings groups. These groups are a place for families who have experienced a difficult start with their newborn, where they can meet others who understand and have been there themselves.
“These opportunities are offered free of charge to our families with the thanks of generous donations like this.

“When newborn babies need specialist, often life-saving, medical care at birth it can be a traumatic and difficult time for parents and families. The donation from David Wilson Homes will directly help some of the 1,100 families we support each year and we could not be more grateful for the support.”

Dominic Harman, Managing Director of David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “The Community Fund is so important to David Wilson Homes and a key part of our company’s ethos. Seeing the fund help an organisation such as SSNAP is the reason we donate and focus on giving back to the community.

“Being able to help families and children who have known the hardship of having a sick newborn is a rewarding experience for us and the reason David Wilson Homes places so much emphasis on supporting those in need.”
